My work is realistic and stark, balancing on the line between representational and abstract with a limited palette. Image-based paintings, inspired primarily from mass media sources such as magazines, dominate my work. I recycle and redefine the image as a self-portrait. I use image as a reference to my fantasy, nostalgia, desire and fear. I convey social comment with my work at times. I am very influenced by German Expressionism, the delicate line and composition of Japanese traditional art. I explore the possibility of the figurative painting with a Japanese point of view.
